International Day of Education
EWB-India celebrated the International Day of Education 2025 in Hyderabad. Hyderabad Institute of Technology and Management hosted the event at its campus.
School visits
Four teams from Student Chapters of EWB-India visited selected schools having eLearning centers set up by EWB-India Hyderabad Chapter. Each team addressed about 30 students at each school and emphasized the need and importance of lifelong learning. They highlighted the benefits of self-driven online learning and the opportunities available to learn. Students can learn online at eLearning centers, or on smartphones.
Thereafter, the team conducted a small quiz for the school students and gave prizes to the top three students. The teams also assessed the current functioning of the eLearning centers they visited. Prof. Santosh Naik, Faculty Advisor for the Student Chapter at HITAM, coordinated these activities.
Final Celebration
The final event was hosted by HITAM on 24 th January 2025. Dean Prof. Satish Reddy inaugurated the session and welcomed the Chief Guest Mr. Rajeev Lal, Director EWB-India and EWB International.
Happiness: The student teams reported that they felt happy in visiting the schools and interacting with the students. Mr. Lal said that scientific studies have concluded that happiness comes out of giving and helping others.
Humanitarian Engineering: Mr. Rajeev Lal said that EWB promotes humanitarian engineering. Engineers have made remarkable contribution to the growth of the modern world. We need to ensure that our work, with all its benefits, does not affect people and the planet adversely. From students onward, all engineers should consciously follow this mantra in everything they do.
Engineers for the future: “With the advent of AI and online information, most technical information will be available on demand”, Mr. Lal told the participants. EWB is working to empower students to create sustainable solutions through Project Based Learning, creative thinking, problem solving, varied interaction, effective communication etc. These skills will be essential for engineers in the future.
The Student Chapter teams presented their findings. The presentation of Chaitanya Bharti Institute of Technology (CBIT) was adjudged best, followed by HITAM, Mufakkam Jah Institute of Technology (MJCET) and Malla Reddy Institute of Technology (MLRIT).
Dr. S. Arvind, Principal of HITAM, presented the awards from EWB-India to the student teams, Faculty Advisors and all others who contributed in conducting the event.
At the end, Dr. Sohom Sohoni, Director, HITAM joined and congratulated the participants.
