Career guidance & Motivation

Bengaluru chapter of Engineers Without Border (EWB), an voluntary network of scientists, engineers and IT professional had  started teaching on Saturdays at Govt and Govt aided schools.
Recently, Govt of Karnataka had launched a programme to involve citizens as teachers in its schools, with the slogan “ShalegebanniShanivaara, KaliyaluNeediSahakara” (Come to school on Saturdays, help in learning). Aim of the scheme is to improve quality of teaching and expose students to the latest developments.

In addition to teaching Science, English and Mathematics, EWB-Bengaluru intends to equip students with knowledge on various career opportunities.
To reach the service of Saturday teaching to rural student community,  EWB-Bengaluru Chapter had organized a one day ‘Workshop on Career Guidance & Motivation’ for high school students on 12th Sep 2015 at Govt High School, Taverekere, KunigalTaluk, Karanataka

Inauguration
The inaugural function was presidedby ShriShivarudraShivacharyaSwamiji of ArakanaHalli mutt. His message to the students was that “every thought if conceived with curiosity results in success”.

Session 1 was handled by ShriA.Manjunath, scientist from DRDO. He introduced to the students how ancient India had been a super power with developments in all fields such as Astronomy, surgery, civilizationetcand later how India was invaded and had been enslaved by the British. He reiterated the importance of the next generation to rise to the occasion and make India a super power. In addition he explained the wonders of flight. He even touched upon a few topics of basic science and Maths.

Session2 was handled by ShriNagesh,Scientist from DRDO. He presented the societal responsibilities. He also told the students to shed the inferior feeling of being from a Kannada medium.

Session3 was handled by ShriVinay who presented the career opportunities. He brought out the factors which play a major role in deciding one’s career.

About 200 students from five schools including Morarji Desai Residential School, and Govt High School,Tavarakereof KunigalTalukhad attended the event.
